In debt over financial aid loan, help?!?
I enrolled in a college here in my town and got financial aid for my classes. I have a skin condition and have to have many surgeries. I had to quit college. A few months later I got a bill to pay back the financial aid, the amount was about 600 dollars and of course I didn't have that. Earlier this year I received a letter from a debt collection agency requesting 919 dollars. I recently got approved for SSI but my husband is unemployed and we cant afford that kind of money. Why has the amount been knocked up and is there anything I can do to resolve this? Thanks.

Is it necessary to file my financial aid (college) refund check when filing for my tax returns?
Will my financial aid money affect my tax REFUND?
In the state of north Carolina, unless you are 24, married or have a child you MUST file your fafsa as a dependant, and use a parents income to file for financial aid. On my tax return I will be filing as an independent, because neither of my parents are going to claim me because I moved out over a year ago not just or school, I moved out before I even went to college...and I have my own apartment, not a dorm...I go to a community college . Will the money I received after tuition and expenses were paid my financial aid refund checks affect my tax RETURN? I work in a restaurant, so it's not like my income is high...basically do I have to file the grant money not used or school as taxable income and how much would it affect my tax return? I'm 19 if that helps.

Financial Aid and Tax Returns?
Alright, this may sound stupid, but under the circumstances that one attended a semester of college full time under financial aid, is there a benefit to be gained on your tax return for such? And if so, is a certain document required when doing your taxes or having them done professionally? I hate trying to file taxes. .
Is is safe to give the Financial Aid office my bank account information to make a direct deposit?
Hi, I am a full time college student. I've been getting financial aid for the last two years but it wasn't until recently I discovered that my college Financial Aid office offers a direct deposit service that, instead of sending me checks, they automatically deposit the amount of my financial aid checks into my bank account. Now, as much as I love the idea, I'm afraid that someone at the Financial Aid office might use my bank account information to make purchases online and pay bills since the office is asking for a voided check which clearly shows my bank account and routing number...Is my fear justified, or should I just go ahead and sign up for that service?
