Question: Tax preparer courses in oregon?

Hello, I am a college student trying to find info on where or when tax preparer courses begin. I know if I was hired I would be working part time and seasonal but that is perfect since I am in school and wouldnt be able to work year round. Does anyone have any ideas? when.what classes are required or where I begin to look? thanks :)

Check your college listings, they may have classes in Aug or Sept, a 60 hr course is required there may classes at local junior colleges as well and if nothing else try cstcsociety.org for an on line course

I can't speak to local course but two on line sources of training materials are Taxation Circles at taxationcircles.com/ P.aspx?PageId= 1786 and Pacific Northwest Tax School pnwtax.com/ taxschool/ index.html Both have materials that will get you an Oregon preparers license. Pacific Northwest is based in Portland and has online lectures. Taxation Circles is in Roseville California and has read and do the test lessons. It is cheaper. If you would like to move up a notch, got to Gleim gleim.com/ and take the Enrolled Agent course. As an EA (like me) you can represent clients the same as CPAs and attorneys.
