Posted by: Bash Limpbutt's Oozing Cyst© on 2010-06-01, 14:57:42 If you're actually collecting SSI -- Supplemental Security Income, a type of welfare for the indigent -- his income will be taken into account in assessing your needs. Unless his income is extremely low, most likely your benefits will stop entirely. SSI is based upon needs and the entire household income (including if you are just living together and not married) is taken into account. If you are actually collecting Social Security Disability (SSD or SSDI) then his income won't affect your benefits as benefits are based upon your earnings history, not your needs. At age 20 you are more than likely collecting SSI as you would not normally have enough paid-in quarters for SSD. |
