Question: Does the oregon employment dept check weekly work searches?

I have to fill in weekly work searches to file unemployment claims. Do they check them?

If you are "adding " employers to your claims that you did not actually seek employment with and subsequently you call and inquire OR unemployment about this, I guarantee they will now check every one of your employers that you claim from now on. My guess is due to the high number of unemployed people out there, it would be impossible to check them all. But most likely they will do "random " checks on a group of people or just check out someone for 1 week every 3 months to see if they lied or not on that particular week. My suggestion if you are claiming employers you did not actually seek employment and they find out, could cause you to lose your benefits and could also cause you to owe them back UI benefits. Since if you lie once, they will now go back and check them all. Rather than worry, just make sure you are honest, so you don't have to worry about losing UI or paying them back. good luck
