Question: If my spouse gets income does that effect my oregon unemployment?

Here is the situation. I am on oregon unemployment. My father wants to give us a large sum of money in order for us to pay bills, groceries, etc. Now if he gives it to me I have to claim it as income, but if he gives it to my wife does it count as an income for me?

Gifts are not taxable to the recipient anything over $13000(or in this case $26000) would be taxable to the donor and no this will not affect your unemployment

NO. Not at all. Unemployment is not tied to gifts, assets, or anything other than your wife's work. Be sure to thank dad! He's a keeper.

If your dad gives you money, no you don't claim it as income and no it doesn't affect your unemployment.
