Question: What is the statute of limitations in rhode island for collection of an old debt?

I have had debt collectors chasing me for debts i accrued years ago which i will never be able to pay. the debts seem to be growing from what i can only guess are interest and or penalties. i'm retired and what i receive from ss just barely gets me by.

Linked below is the statute of limitations by state. If the creditor files a lawsuit beyond the SOL, you can claim that as a defense in court. The debt collectors can try to collect beyond that date.
